The food was so spectacular on our recent voyage that I just had to write a dining guide for what we ate on this Virgin Voyage, the Valiant Lady. So heads up, wink, wink on Virgin Voyages all the restaurants are the same, on all the ships. So whether you sail on the RESILIENT Lady like we will next February or any of the other ladies, you will get to have the same experience if you want.

There are six ātraditionalā restaurants on the ships and then The Galley as well as several other cafe-like spots around the ship. Of course, room service is always available. Menus with a few options for the six restaurants can all be found on-line as well as in the app.

My favorite TRAVEL CARD

TRAVEL TIP: If you are traveling with others be sure to become āfriendsā with your sailors in the app prior to making the reservations so they sync your reservations. We tried to do this prior to boarding but must have had some āuser-errorsā but visiting Sailor Services and they were able to sync everything nicely.

The restaurants and eateries on board are Michelin-Starred Chef collectives AND they have won a plethora of BEST in CRUISE category awards in the past few years. In 2023 Cruise Criticāās BEST in DINING category which is member chosen award. Virgin also uses sustainable technology and bans single-use plastics as well as partnering with local and responsible sources for their food supply.
Here is my dining guide this Virgin Voyage for the eateries and dining experiences we had on the ship. Iāll start out with breakfast as that is the beginning of the day.
The traditional restaurants do require reservations and you will absolutely want to book these 45 days before your sailing when they become available in the app. Competing for these slots is like signing up for your favorite college class but it is worth it and you can always cancel later.

BREAKFAST
Iām not a big breakfast eater anymore, but I love me some breakfast foods. So of course we had to try out Razzle Dazzle. This vegetarian-friendly restaurant is unique and has many options for you to try a healthy and not-so healthy option. Virgin Voyages calls them “Naughty” I love it!

Razzle Dazzle became our breakfast place! We loved our servers and staff who came to recognize us. The food was delicious from skillets, Avocado Toast, French Toast to Salmon bowls to pastry delights from heaven.

In The Galley for breakfast we enjoyed fruit bento bowls YUM! I grabbed this after a sunrise yoga class on my way back to our room, easy-peasy.

Grounds located on the 7th floor and close The Galley youāll find the coffee and pastry favorite morning spot on the boat! The line can get pretty long in the morning so be prepared for a little wait, but my Jon is an avid coffee drinker and said it was very delicious. You can order premium latteās and cappuccinos here too.

HERE’s MY VLOG TOO!
Lunch
The Pizza Place was definitely one of our favorite lunch spots. This pizza oven, fresh-made pizza place smells intoxicating before you even arrive. With indoor and outdoor seating it made me feel like we were in a pizzeria in Italy too. They also have a cooler filled with ready-made salads to go if you just wanted to grab one for the room.

Everyday, The Pizza Place offers a different kind of pizza and were super delicious. We had to try some.

DINNER on VIRGIN
Here is my dinner dining guide for Virgin Voyage from my favorite to least favorite. My absolute favorite dinner restaurant was Extra Virgin. We liked it so much we went twice. Here we enjoyed Eggplant Parmigiana, Fried Calamari, Crispy Artichokes, Beef Carpaccio, and braised mini meatballs.

TRAVEL TIP: Donāt let your eyes order for you. We made this mistake at Extra Virgin. As a table we ordered the charcuterie board and then each ordered three extra courses. Turned out to be a lot of food. On our second visit we wised up.

Another dining favorite was The Wake. This restaurant is the steakhouse option for Virgin and fills up quite quickly as well. Most travelers dressed up for this somewhat elegant dining experience and the views.

The Wake is also very good for BRUNCH on your Sea Day but veteran sailors know this and book EARLY! Brunch is fantastic here. If you are traveling in a group order the Endless Mimosas they were a super fun way to start the day and then soak up the sun in a beach chair.
Here’s some of our brunch:

Gunbae is Virgin Voyages answer to Korean BBQ and Asian influence. This interactive, community building concept is a TON of fun. Before you even arrive you can here the cheers and jeers. Such a fun, fun night. Our server was personable, engaging and created a cohesive group at our grill table for the night.

We enjoyed a few combo meat and veggie options as well. The sizzling oven and presentation was unique and different. One of my friends and clients loved this restaurant so much, they went twice on one journey. Itās a great place to meet new people too!

Pink Agave is the restaurant based off of Mexico City and has a shareable menu. The ambience is fun but a bit dark, so I apologize for these shady pics. We enjoyed the Cochinita Pibil which is steak and cheese with chiles, Chayote Yacteco (mexican squash, habanero pepper and baby carrots) as well as the Enchilada de Pollo (roast chicken, salsa verde enchilada) and the tequila choices they offer are endless. The ambience and lighting in the restaurant is tropical and shady, just a different cool vibe than the others aesthetics in the sit-down restaurants.

The TEST KITCHEN- Hmmm!
I know there is this big hype on The Test Kitchen but Iāll be honest, it was not my favorite. Eeew! I went to a culinary college too and know a lot of chefs. But for our menu, I thought they were trying too hard to be “experimental.” There are two menus and we had Menu A, depending on the day of your voyage you will be offered A or B. No one in our party enjoyed the combinations.

The kicker was the blueberry steak it was really not my favorite. Then there was a mushroom pate thingy, I love mushrooms so was excited. However, I may not sophisticated enough for The Test Kitchen. But I think Anthony Bourdain would have been surprised by some of their combinations. Fair warning though, it is a Test Kitchen true to their name. The service and staff were spectacular and I know others really loved this, Iām just not one of them.

Other Dining Guide Tips on this Virgin Voyage
Overall the food was so spectacular on this voyage so of course I had to share.
Here’s a few more travel tips:

TRAVEL TIP: Try the suggested. There are exceptional wine and drink pairings at the restaurants. I highly recommend the wine pairings or cocktails they offer in their restaurant menus. They were spot on! I could tell the bartenders/sommeliers thought about their creations or suggestions. Well done!

Drinks packages are not a part of the inclusive portion of a Virgin Voyage cruise, however, you can purchase SAILOR LOOT prior to departure which I definitely recommend. We had $600 in sailor loot during a sales promotion when I purchased our cruise tickets. We barely used it all. Your credit card will be attached to your app and you can see your spending with every transaction so there was no surprises.

Drinks ranged from $10 – 15, like Gin & Tonics and Mudslides. Bottles of wine ranged from $30 to $100+ so about the same as most American cities and fine dining restaurants.

TRAVEL TIP: If you are planning on attending the entertainment or shows you may have a scheduling conflict with your dinner meals. On these nights, it is probably best to just eat at The Galley or Pizza Place

The portions are appropriate. One of the other tips or a āheads-upā I can share is the food portions on the voyage in the restaurants and eateries are appropriate. Thereās no super-sizing on Virgin Voyages. The bonus is, if you would like to order more, you absolutely can. Order away! However, what I really liked was I felt like they gave you enough and it was more of a European portion and not a massive amount of food.
Room Service
We missed this one, what a bummer, but definitely going to be utilizing this service on the next cruise. Our friend, Val would order her breakfast and coffee every day and the service fee was waived because she ordered an premium coffee drink. Some sailors told us they also ordered a few beers or ciders to have in the morning to put in their fridge for later in the day and it would be there after touring. I love this little #hack.

Until next time, my appetite will have to wait. Until then, I will think about where we will be making our reservations. I hope you have liked my dining guide for this Virgin Voyage and found some of my travel tips helpful. Please remember to leave me a comment or your thoughts if you have sailed with them! My next blog will be on our ports of call including some of the excursions we took, so stay tuned. Until then rememberā¦
